STORM WARNING: Women's Basketball Readies For Thanksigiving Classic On Road

(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) – This weekend Lake Erie will head to Southern Indiana to participate in the Screaming Eagles' Thanksgiving Classic with games against the host as well as Bellarmine. The Storm (2-0) will look to remain unbeaten against a pair of talented teams in Southern Indiana (4-1) and the Knights (3-0).

The two games against GLVC opponents will provide quality competition for the Green and White, especially before G-MAC play gets underway.

"These are two really good in-region teams and a great test to see where we are at this point in the season," said first-year head coach Brook Kohlheim. "We are looking forward to being challenged especially right before beginning conference play. Our goal going into this weekend is to play hard, rebound and take care of the ball."

The first game will come against the Eagles Saturday afternoon at 2:30 following Bellarmine and Michigan Tech's contest at noon. On Sunday, Lake Erie will play the early game against the Knights at noon.

The Storm have been impressive so fair in their two wins against Wayne State and Clarion. A quartet of players are averaging double-figures with Farrah Benner leading the way with 15 points a game. Ashley West is second on the team with 13 a contest, while both Breanna Bauer and Josie Chaddock come in with 11 each.

As a team, Lake Erie has averaged 67.5 points against giving up just 59.5 a game. Defense has helped Coach Kohlheim's crew as opponents have shot just 29.8 percent against the Storm, who have made 41.9 percent on the opposite end.

Southern Indiana enters averaging 73.0 points per game on a .422 field goal percentage. Three Eagles average double-figures with Kacy Eschweiler serving as the leading scorer with 15.2 points a game.

Bellarmine comes in with a potent offense that averages 86.3 points per game with a success rate of 44.1 percent. Lauren Deel leads the Knights with 16.3 points per game.
