Women's Lacrosse Adds Seven During Signing Period

PAINESVILLE, OHIO --  Even though the start of the 2013 season is just around the corner, the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team is looking ahead a little bit with the signing of seven high school standouts during the early signing period.  Second-year head coach Jillian Howley announced the initial signees of this year's recruiting class Wednesday (Feb. 27).

"I'm very excited about this group of signees who are going to play a big role in the future of our program," Howley said.  "We have a very veteran team this year and will lose a lot of seniors so it is important that we replace that production and talent and I think we are off to a very good start."

The group includes a mix of positions from across the Midwest and Southeastern portions of the country.   Two are listed as attackers, three at midfield and two on the defensive end of the field.  Three of the student-athletes are from within the state of Ohio while the Storm signed one player each from the states of Florida, Kentucky, Illinois and Virginia.

"Lacrosse is a growing sport nationally and we are working hard to have our recruiting and our program reflect that," Howley added.  "We have targeted players from the best programs within the state of Ohio and schools in other states who have achieved great success.  We want student-athletes who are a good fit, not only for our team and our program but for Lake Erie College as a whole."

The Storm's early signing class is listed below, followed by brief student-athlete bios.  Lake Erie opens the 2013 season with three games in Grand Junction, Colo., starting March 4 against Adams State University.
