Wrestling Signs Local Product Evan Rosborough
PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College wrestling team added its first recruit of the fall signing period on Tuesday (Nov. 27) as Evan Rosborough (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to compete for the Storm beginning with the 2013-14 season.
"We are very excited to welcome Evan to our program as he really fits the kind of student-athlete we are looking for here at Lake Erie," said head coach Kevin Hoogenboom. "Evan brings a strong passion for the sport and has achieved great success as a wrestler, but we feel that he will continue to improve and be a big part of our future success."
Rosborough is a two-tome state qualifier, including a fourth-place finish at 195-pounds last season as a junior. He enters his senior season ranked at the top of the Ohio High School wrestling rankings at 220 pounds. Rosborough competed at 171 pounds as a sophomore.
He has also competed at the Junior National Championships, the Ohio Junior Duals and was part of the Lake County Storm All-Stars that competed in Florida last summer. Rosborough, who had offers from several Division I schools before signing with Lake Erie, will likely compete at 197 pounds in college.
"Evan has extremely good mat skills and possesses a good top game, which translates well to college wrestling," Hoogenboom added. "He is a big, athletic upper weight who can wrestle in all positions. We feel that he will be a big contributor for us in the future."
