Zak Vargo, Matt Vandermeer Nationally Ranked in Coaches Preseason Poll

EDMOND, Okla.--  Senior Zak Vargo (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) and junior Matt Vandermeer (Clarkston, Ohio/Clarkston) cracked the initial 2013-14 Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Rankings released Wednesday (Oct. 23). 

Vargo, the 2013 national runner-up at 157 pounds, is ranked second in the weight class by the coaches.  In the preseason Basford Regional Rankings released Oct. 10, Vargo is pegged as the top-ranked wrestler in Super Region 2. 

Vandermeer, who earned All-American status with a sixth-place finish at the 2012 National Championships, is initially ranked eighth in the country at 165 pounds and was third in the Basford Regional Rankings. 

As a team, the Storm are ranked 15th in the preseason poll.  The Storm finished in 17th place at the 2013 NCAA Division II Championships.

The Storm opens up their season on Nov. 9, competing at the Michigan State Open.
