ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Austin Gillihan (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) and Dylan Zivcic (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/Lakeland) won their respective weight classes and the Storm captured the team title Saturday (Nov. 16) at the Mount Union Invitational.
Gillihan and Zivcic both picked up four wins on the day en route to their titles. Gillihan picked up a major decision (13-2) against Gannon University's Adam Weinell in the finals of the 133-pound weight class while Zivcic picked up a 4-0 decision Eric Antesberger of West Liberty University in the 174-pound finals.
Three other members of the Storm fell in the championship round, taking second place-165-pounder Zak Vargo (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), 184-pounder Tyler Tesny (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) and heavyweight Bobby Zappitelli (Painesville, Twp., Ohio/Lake Catholic). All three wrestlers finsihed at 3-1.
Nate Ball (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) finished the day at 4-1, taking third in the 157-pound bracket. 197-pounder Evan Rosborough (Concord Township, Ohio/Riverside) received the "Most Falls" award for the invitational, picking up three pins on the day, finishing in fourth. 141-pounder Dylan Kager (Shalersville, Ohio/Crestwood) finished sixth in his class while 184-pounder Jacob White (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley State) finsihed in seventh.
The Storm captured the overall team title with a score of 170.5 points, 33 points higher than second place and host University of Mount Union.
Lake Erie is back on the mat Wednesday (Nov. 20) on the road against Seton Hill University for their first dual meet of the season.
