Storm to Face Upper Iowa for First Round of National Duals

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- The first-round brackets for the 2014 NWCA/Cliff Keen Division II National Duals held in Des Moines, Iowa were released Tuesday (Jan. 8). The 19th-ranked Lake Erie College Storm will face 10th-ranked Upper Iowa University. 

The Storm's roster features two nationally ranked wrestlers- 157-pounder Zak Vargo (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), who is currently ranked second in the country and 165-pounder Tyler Tesny (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls), who is currently ranked sixth in the country. The Storm is 7-2 this season in dual meets. 

Upper Iowa's roster three nationally ranked wrestlers. The Peacocks were victorious in their only dual meet of the season, defeating Waldorf College in November. 

This year's field features 16 Division II teams, 11 of which are currently ranked by the NWCA Division II Coaches Association.

"We are very excited for the opportunity to compete with the best teams in the country. This is a first for our program and the first time all year we will have a full team," said Storm Head Coach Kevin Hoogenboom. "We rested most of the guys last week in preparation for national duals, so we should be fresh. We feel very confident in our ability to make day two of the event (top 8)."
