FINDLAY, Ohio—The Lake Erie College wrestling team heads to Findlay, Ohio on Saturday (Feb. 1) to compete at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships.
The four-team round-robin tournament consists of the Storm, 17th-ranked Ashland University, Tiffin University and host University of Findlay.
Heading into the event, Austin Gillihan (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) is tied for the most technical falls in D-II with six in 25:52, more than four minutes faster than Newberry College's William Young, who also has six. Evan Rosborough (Concord Twp., Ohio/Riverside) is tenth in the country with seven pinfalls.
The Storm is coming off a tough 21-16 loss against 12th-ranked University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Lake Erie went five and five in the dual. Gillihan, third-ranked Zak Vargo (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), Dylan Zivcic (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/Lakeland) and Rosborough picked up decision victories while Dylan Kager (Shalersville, Ohio/Crestwood) scored a major decision. Rosborough had the match of the night. Trailing 4-1 in the final ten seconds, Rosborough picked up a takedown and a near fall to win 6-4.
After the GLIAC Duals, the Storm hosts West Liberty University at home on Wednesday (Feb. 5).
