Bartula to Participate in OCSA Women's All-Star Game
PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Adding to her
already long list of postseason honors, Lake Erie College women's
soccer player Natalia
Bartula (Oakville, Ont./Holy Trinity Catholic) has
been selected to play in the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association's
All-Star Game at Capital University on Saturday (April
24).
The game, which will divide its players onto North and South teams,
will feature athletes from 13 schools around the state, including
Division I programs like Ohio University and Cincinnati.
The senior started all 20 games as the Storm's sweeper on the back
line last fall. Lake Erie's defense improved immensely in 2009,
surrendering just 44 goals after giving up 51 goals in six fewer
games in 2008. Lake Erie also increased its win total from two to
six last season, its final as a Division II Independent before
moving into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(GLIAC) in 2010.
Earlier in the offseason, Bartula was given a pair of scholar
athlete awards by the OCSA and the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America for her excellence in the classroom.
