PAINESVILLE, OHIO—A last minute goal from Alexandra Sevastakis lifted Tiffin University past the Lake Erie College women's soccer team 2-1 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on a rainy day at The Britt in Painesville on Sunday (Oct. 7).
The Dragons (5-2-2, 3-2-2 GLIAC) scored the lone goal of the first half in the 11th minute when Stefania Viscardi collected a rebound from a Lauren Bowyer shot and put it past Storm goalkeeper Megan Baldacci (Cavecreek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows).
The Storm (2-7-1, 2-4-1 GLIAC) responded midway through the second half with senior Kaitlyn Holland's (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) goal from 12-yards out to tie the contest at one.
Tied with less than a minute to play, Tiffin's Alexandra Sevastakis squeaked a shot past Baldacci from her right side for the game-winning goal.
Baldacci ended the game with three saves. Holland's goal was her fifth of the season, and third in the past two games.
Hayley Coppoia picked up the win in net for the Dragons, recording two saves.
The Storm return to The Britt on Tuesday (Oct. 9) to face nonconference opponent Mercyhurst University (4-7-1) at 7:00 pm.
