GLIAC Releases Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll

BAY CITY, Mich-- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released the 2013 women's soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday (Aug. 28).  Grand Valley State University, who is currently ranked second nationally, was selected to finish on first-place.

Grand Valley State received 12 of the possible 13 first-place votes and earned 144 total points. Michigan Technological University the only other first-place vote as they were selected second with 123 total votes. Saginaw Valley State University and Ohio Dominican University also received over 100 total points to finish in third and fourth respectively.  Lake Erie College finished the poll with 23 total points.

Last year in 2012 Lake Erie finished with a 3-14-1 record overall and 2-10-1 in the GLIAC. Senior defender Lauren Gaitsch (Huntley, Ill./Huntly) and junior defender Grace Ferut (Medina, Ohio/Medina) will anchor the Storm's defense this season.  Sophomore Marlena Lesniowski (London, Ontario/Catholic Central High) will play a pivotal role in the midfield once again.  Senior Paige Nemec (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood) looks to make a splash at the forward position.
