Storm Unable To Tame Wildcats

MARQUETTE, Mich.-- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team wrapped up their season opening six-game road trip at Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Northern Michigan University Sunday (Sept. 22) but were unable to overcome the Wildcat's first-half lead, falling 3-0.

The Wildcats (1-5, 1-0 GLIAC) got on the scoreboard first in the 11th minute when KC McCary scored off a rebound. Northern Michigan continued to put the pressure on the Storm's defense as Paula Hafner scored added two Wildcat goals to take a 3-0 lead into the half.

The Storm (1-5, 0-2 GLIAC) defense buckled down in the second-half, holding the Wildcats to just two shots. However, the Storm were unable to find the back of net as Northern Michigan's Caroline Glantz made three saves in the shutout.

Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) made five saves in net for the Storm. Paige Nemec (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood) led the Storm with three shots.

Lake Erie is back in action Friday (Sept. 27) for their home opener against Malone University.
