PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was unable to overcome a pair of first half goals from visiting Northwood University, falling to the Timberwolves 2-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest Sunday (Oct. 20).
The Timberwolves cracked the scorebaord first when Allie Misner knocked in a rebound off a Jessica Flores shot in the eigth minute. After a stalemate of most of the remainder of the first half, Jessica Esser added a late goal, assisted by Allisson Carroll to give the Timberwolves a 2-0 advantage going into the break. Elizabeth Roesch (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) had five shots for the Storm in the half.
The Storm defense buckled down in the second half, keeping Northwood off the board but were unable to find the back of the net themselves. Timberwolves goalkeeper made 13 saves for the shutout.
Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Mich./Oxford) made 6 saves for the Storm.
The Storm continue their GLIAC homestand on Friday (Oct. 25), playing host to Ashland University.
