ALLENDALE, Mich.—The Lake Erie College women's soccer team battled the nation's number one ranked team, Grand Valley State University, Friday (Nov. 1).

The Lakers dominated the flow of the game in the first half, outshooting the Storm 18-0 but Storm goalkeeper Sarah Stroope (Oxford, Ohio/Oxford) stopped all eight Laker shots on goal, to keep the game scoreless after a half of play.

Grand Valley continued to pour on the shots in the second set, but Stroope continued to shine in net.  In the 76th minute, Kayla Kimble converted a penalty kick to give the Lakers the 1-0 lead, which proved to be enough for the Laker win.

Stroope ended the game with a career-high 18 saves, the second most in Lake Erie history.  Marlena Lesniowski (London, Ont./Catholic Central High) recorded the lone shot for the Storm.

The Storm plays their regular season finale Sunday (Nov. 3) at Ferris State Univesity.
