Storm Falls Short to Arrows in Overtime

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – The season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion for Lake Erie on Tuesday evening as it fell to nearby rival Ursuline 2-1 in double-overtime at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. The Storm finishes the year at 5-10-1 overall and 4-9-1 in the G-MAC. The Arrows move to the conference tournament at 6-9-1 overall with a 5-8-1 league mark.

The prospects of moving on to the postseason looked promising early on as Lake Erie was the first to light up the scoreboard and did so just 8:03 into the game. Brett Pauff gave the hosts the initial lead thanks to an assist from Juliet Tyma.

That lead lasted through halftime until the 76th minute when Andie Widmer scored the equalizer for the Arrows.

In overtime, the Storm found a pair of opportunities just over a minute separated from each other, but a shot by Pauff went high before another by Tyma was saved. In the second extra period, Ursuline's Megan Rafac scored the game winner at 103:57.

It was the final game in the green and white for Ashley Mundey, Pauff, Chelsey Warlick, and Jessica Pepera, but the Storm will rage on and push for another playoff bid next season.
