Storm Blanked by Yellow Jackets

PAINESVILLE, OHIO --  The Lake Erie College women's tennis team dropped its second match of the spring season Saturday (April 10) with a 9-0 loss to Baldwin-Wallace College at Purvis Park in University Heights.


The Yellow Jackets (9-7) won three of the four contested singles matches in straight sets.  Freshman Cassie Rideout (Perry, Ohio/Perry) nearly pulled out the win at second singles, taking Nicole Fung to a tiebreaker before falling 6-3, 1-6, 0-1 (10-2). 


Freshman Emily Rose-Gray (Marine City, Mich./Marine City) and sophomore Rachel Smallwood (Carlisle, Ohio/Carlisle) were narrowly edged at first doubles by Fung and Alisha Shivers, 8-6.


The Storm (0-6) is slated to wrap up its season on April 24 with a pair of matches against Indiana Tech and host Ohio Dominican.
