Despite Fast Start, Storm Women Drop 6-3 Decision at Edinboro in Spring Debut

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College women's tennis team won the first three singles matches in convincing fashion, but Edinboro, aided by a pair of forfeits, took the final contested singles matche and earned wins in all three doubles bouts for a 6-3 victory Sunday (Feb. 20) at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pa.

Freshman Jordyn Parrigan (Shelby, Ohio/Shelby) started the day off with a 6-1, 6-2 win at first singles over Hannah Boyer and sophomore Emily Rose-Gray (Marine City, Mich./Marine City) followed with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at second singles over Kaitlin Voss.

Sophomore Cassie Rideout (Perry, Ohio/Perry) took out Chelsea Nagel 6-1, 6-1 at third singles to give the Storm a sweep of the top three singles spots.

The Fighting Scots came back to win at fourth singles, and picked up points for forfeit victories at numbers five and six singles and swept the doubles competition.

The match was the first for the Storm during the non-traditional spring schedule.
