Storm Women Fall to Lake Superior State in Season Opener

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Lake Erie College women's tennis team's 2012-13 season got off to a disappointing start with a 9-0 loss at Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Lake Superior State University at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center in Sault Ste. Marie on Friday (Sept. 7).

The host Lakers (3-1, 1-0 GLIAC) won four of the five singles matches in straight sets and easily took both doubles contests by a combined 16-1 margin.

For the Storm, freshman Cristina Suarez (Puebla, Mexico / Tecnologico de Monterrey) took LSSU's Erin Anderson-Scott to three sets at first singles before falling 2-6, 6-3, 6-10.  

Lake Erie's season-opening road trip to the Upper Peninsula continues on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Michigan Technological University.
