Home Opener Spoiled by Visiting Malone

PAINESVILLE - Malone University spoiled the Lake Erie College volleyball team's home opener with a 3-0 win over the Storm tonight (Sept. 9) at the Athletic Center Arena.

After a close first game (25-23), Malone (4-2) took the next two 25-15 and 25-17 to send the Storm (6-5) to its second straight defeat.

Despite the loss, sophomore right side Michelle Naab (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) recorded six kills on offense while classmate Kayleigh Collins (Saline, Mich./Saline) added four.  Setter Lauren Bogatay (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) had 11 assists and libero Brittany Raggets (Eastlake, Ohio/Villa Angela St. Joseph) had 16 digs.

Malone was led by Emily Beiting's seven kills and 11 digs.  Jackie Schwamberger had 16 assists for the Pioneers.

Lake Erie will look to get back on the winning track this weekend at the Hampton Inn-Pioneer Invitational at Point Park University starting Friday (Sept. 11).
