Eagles Too Much for Storm in Ashland

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Freshman Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) smashed home a team-high six kills and junior Michelle Naab (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) added five without making an error but the Lake Erie College volleyball team fell to area GLIAC foe Ashland University, 3-0, in Ashland, Ohio.

The Storm fell by tallies of 25-17, 25-5 and 25-19. 

Senior liberio Lauren Johnson (Wellington, Ohio/Keystone) had a team-high seven digs for Lake Erie while Naab, sophomore Nicole Kumar (Northfield Center, Ohio/Nordonia) and freshman Molly Richardson (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) each had two blocks. 

The Eagles were spurred to victory with 12 service aces and countered with only one service error.  Ashland hit .277 as a team while the Storm attacked at a .026 clip. 

Lake Erie is home for three GLIAC matches this upcoming weekend, starting with a contest against conference leader and #10-ranked Hillsdale College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
