Ohio Dominican Defeats Storm in Close Match

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- The Lake Erie College volleyball team kicked off the last stretch of the 2012 season with a loss against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Ohio Dominican University on Friday (Nov. 2) in straight sets at the Jerome. T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center in Painesville.

The Panthers (12-14, 6-9 GLIAC) won the sets 25-21, 25-17, 26-24.

Ohio Dominican got out to fast starts in the first two sets of the match to clinch them. The Storm (3-21, 0-15 GLIAC) started strong in the third set before Panthers tied the game. The two teams traded points before the Panthers were able to seal the victory in straight sets.

The Storm were led on offense by Sara Aultz (Wooster, Ohio/Orrville), with 10 kills. Paige Baldauf (Marion, Ohio/Marion Pleasant) led the Storm defense with nine digs. Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) contributed eight kills and six digs.

Caitlin Kusan led the Panthers with 10 kills while Bailey Barker led with 12 digs.

The Storm return to the court on Saturday (Nov. 2) to host GLIAC foe Tiffin University at 6 pm in Painesville.
