Hoppe Named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention

PAINESVILLE, OHIO—Lake Erie College volleyball outside hitter Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) was named a 2012 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention for the second straight season, announced by the GLIAC Saturday night (Nov. 17).

The three-year starter led the Storm in kills this season with 190 kills (2.18 k/s), including 16 against West Virginia State University on Sept. 7 and again on Sept. 18 against Notre Dame College. Hoppe was second on the team in digs with 155 (1.78 d/s), recording 10 or more on three separate occasions. Additionally, the junior picked up nine aces and 23 blocks.

In other GLIAC news, Northwood University's Juliia Pakhomenko was named the 2012 GLIAC "Player of the Year", Grand Valley State University's Betsy Ronda was named "Freshman of the Year", Ferris State University's Brandie Merren was named "Libero of the Year". Northwood's head coach Tom Koth was named "Coach of the Year."
