Storm Sweeps Matches at Ursuline, Now 8-3

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College volleyball team improved to 8-3 on the year and added two more wins to the current eight match winning streak with two wins at the Notre Dame/Ursuline Volleyball Tournament on Saturday (Sept. 17).

The Storm dispatched both opponents, Davis & Elkins (25-13, 18-25, 25-15, 25-22) and Ursuline (25-14, 22-24, 25-23, 25-20) in four sets.

In the first match, the Storm was led by Crystal Kedroske (Dexter, Mich. /Dexter) who finished with 17 kills, 2 service aces and 16 digs. Brooke Peiffer (Lansing, Mich. /Holt) added 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks that she had or assisted on. Lee Lee Barrett (Chattanooga, Tenn. / Ootlewah) totaled 11 kills and .391 hitting percentage along with four block assists. Sidney Fletcher (Saline, Mich. / Saline) led the defense with 20 digs and Alexis Thomas (Cincinnati, Ohio / Fairfield) made 46 assists in the match.

As a team, the Storm hit .235% in the four sets.

Playing against the host, Ursuline, Lake Erie battled the Arrows and the dark. Kedroske finished with a team-high 13 kills for Lake Erie along with nine digs. Peiffer was one kill behind with 11. Barrett was active on both fronts as she had 11 kills and four solo blocks. Fletcher tied the first match with twenty digs. She also had two service aces. Jamie Riley (Prospect, Ohio / Olentangy) and Jess McPeek (Madison, Ohio / Madison) had 19 and 13 digs, respectively. Thomas helped with 45 assists and 12 digs for Lake Erie.

Lake Erie will resume GLIAC play with a trip to Michigan to face Northwood and Hillsdale next weekend.
