HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Lake Erie men's squad posted an 11th-place finish in Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
Paced by sophomore Nick Hall's 10th-place finish, the Storm carded 306 team points, earning 11th in a field of 15 teams. Hall ran the GLIAC championship race in a time of 25:42.7. The Stow, Ohio, native placed 44th in the same race a year ago.
LEC's next-best finisher was Dalton Graham, who clocked in with a 31st-place finish in 26:32.2. Graham was the leader in a four-freshman scoring contingent for the Storm (Graham, Vincent Horning, Michael Dahmen, Jacob Godec).
Grand Valley State (Mich.) swept both the men's and women's championships on Saturday, scoring 21 points on the men's side and 30 on the women's. The Saturday (Oct. 26) at the event was held at Michigan Tech Trails in Houghton, Mich.
Lake Erie's Shanita Fluker timed in with a 26:45.8 figure as an open contestant in the women's race.
Hall picked up runners in the final furlongs of the men's race; he was in 15th place at the second split marker. His strong kick earned him a Second Team All-GLIAC honor.
