LEC men card two top-50 finishes at regional race

SOMERS, Wis. – The performances of sophomore Nick Hall and freshman Dalton Graham highlighted Lake Erie's team effort at the Men's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday.

 

Led by Hall's 34th-place finish and Graham's 48th-place performance, the Storm men finished 22nd in a field of 29 teams. Hall – a top-10 finisher in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 26 – carded a final time of 32:35 on the Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course. Graham finished 16 seconds back, at 32:51.

 

Lake Erie scored 568 team points in the event hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Grand Valley State (Mich.) won the men's competition, scoring 53 points to edge Southern Indiana (64). GVSU's lineup sported five top-20 finishers.

 

Grand Valley also scored a dominant win in the women's race, placing all five of its scoring runner's in the race's top-15. Six of the top seven teams on the women's side were GLIAC squads.

 

Hall – a native of Stow, Ohio – improved on his 2012 Regional performance: he placed 57th in last year's race. Lake Erie's third-, fourth- and fifth best times were earned by Vinnie Horning (34:57, 135th), Jacob Godec (37:23, 174th) and Michael Dahmen (37:35, 177th).
