The 2012-13 sports season marks the 40th anniversary of Title IX and the GLIAC is commemorating the occasion with a year-long celebration of its impact at the conference's member institutions. However, the roots of intercollegiate athletics for women at Lake Erie College began to take place nearly 80 years prior. This story, from the Fall 1990 Lake Erie College Bulletin, looks back at the role of athletics for women at the College – and how sports gained the school public notoriety - in the first half of the 20th century.

Hall Sets LEC 10K Mark at NCAA Midwest Regional

Freshman Nick Hall ran a school-record 32:38 at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional meet in Wisconsin. The Storm men placed 19th out of 23 teams at the event.

Campus Closed Due to Weather, Athletic Events and Practices Postponed

Lake Erie College is closing campus Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 29-30) due to severe weather and high wind advisories in the region, forcing the postponement of the Storm volleyball team's match at Ashland Tuesday night (moved to Wednesday at 7 p.m.) and the cancellation of all practices the next two days.

Nick Hall and Shanita Fluker set school records in the 8K and 6K respectively, to lead Lake Erie at the 2012 GLIAC Championships in Michigan on Saturday (Oct. 20).

Storm Run at All-Ohio Championships

The Lake Erie cross country teams took part in the annual All-Ohio meet at Cedarville Sept. 29. The men placed 9th among DII/NAIA teams and 36th overall. The women were 10th in the division and 35th overall.
