"Next Level November" Matching Gift Program Announced

"Next Level November" Matching Gift Program Announced

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) - The Lake Erie Storm Athletic Department is proud to announce that an anonymous donor has made available $10,000 for a Matching Gift Program that will open on Thursday, Nov. 1. The fundraiser will directly contribute to taking the Storm student-athlete experience to the next level.

"Next Level November" will conclude on Friday, Nov. 30. The anonymous gift will match all gifts dollar-for-dollar that contribute to the Storm Club. Each Storm Club gift can be designated for a specific team or the overall department. The gift match will result in the value of each gift being matched and therefore doubled – with all matches going toward the overall department. This opportunity is available for all gifts at any level and allows for each individual sports program to benefit from the month-long campaign.

The 2017-18 season was the most successful year ever for the Storm program. The first year in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference saw 13 of 16 programs qualify and compete in the post-season (Wrestling was not a G-MAC sport last year). The first ever G-MAC team conference title was earned by women's lacrosse. In the fall Storm volleyball earned the first division title for Lake Erie. Individual G-MAC Track & Field titles were won by Hailey Nielsen at both the indoor and outdoor championships. With four Storm wrestlers advancing to NCAA DII Nationals, the year saw many athletic achievements.

The Storm were also a force in the classroom, achieving 49 national honors from the DII Athletic Directors Association and 78 received Academic All-Conference honors from the G-MAC, including four student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPA's.

The community also felt the impact of the Storm through numerous events during the year including Tim Tebow's "Night to Shine," Painesville's Fall Fest, a mentorship program with Harvey High School and raising money for the official charity of DII Make-A-Wish.

"I want to thank our anonymous donor for recognizing the potential to make November 2018 very special for Lake Erie Athletics," said Kelley Kish, Director of Athletics. "The funds raised will be a game-changer and will make a tremendous impact on our almost 400 student-athletes and all 17 sports to help them continue as champions in the classroom, our community and sport. This matching program for November presents a unique opportunity for donors to double their impact and return on their investment in our Storm student-athletes."
