(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – The administration staff for the Lake Erie athletic department continues to grow as Steven Brown has been hired as an athletic administration assistant. Brown started this week and will also serve on the Storm's Leadership Team.
"I am very excited for this new opportunity at Lake Erie. I know that I can continue to gain the practical knowledge necessary to become a successful athletic administrator in working with Kelley and the rest of the leadership team," said Brown.
"We are thrilled to add Steve to Lake Erie in this important role," added Director of Athletics Kelley Kish. "We welcome his perspective as a former NCAA student-athlete, coach, educator and administrator to our leadership team."
Brown comes to Lake Erie College after most recently teaching at Breakthrough Charter Schools in Cleveland where he was the science department chair since 2014. Prior to that, He was the Assistant Dean of Culture for Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy in Chicago.
He also has a background in fitness, training, and coaching. Brown worked a consultant with LA Fitness and a core & dynamics training instructor at Ohio Wesleyan where he completed his undergraduate degree. Brown was a student-athlete, competing on OWU's football, indoor and outdoor track teams, where he earned All-American honors in the 110 meter hurdles. He also has a master's degree from Ohio University in athletic administration.
In the coaching field, Brown was an assistant track & field coach for John Carroll last season and Cleveland Heights High School the previous three years. While with Rowe-Clark Math & Science, he was the head coach.
Brown and his wife Erica currently reside in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
