Storm Stopped at Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa. – Six Mercyhurst College pitchers combined on a three-hitter to defeat the Lake Erie College baseball team in a nonconference game on Wednesday (March 30) at Mercyhurst Field in Erie.

The Storm (7-9) recorded just three singles in the game.  The host Lakers (17-6) pounded out 15 hits in the 18-2 win and were also aided by five Lake Erie errors.

Bill Gertenslage and Ethan Santora each homered for the Lakers, who are currently ranked third in the Atlantic Region. Starter Tyler Bowditch (3-0), who did not allow a hit in his two innings of work, picked up the win for Mercyhurst.  Storm sophomore Tyler Minnich (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone) allowed three earned runs (six total) on five hits in three innings and was charged with the loss.

Lake Erie is on the road again this weekend, when it plays a four-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series at Hillsdale College Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3.
