FRANKFORT, Ky.—The Lake Erie College baseball team won their opening two games of the 2016 season on the road at Kentucky State University Saturday (Feb. 20).
The Storm won the opening game 7-4 and the second game 6-3.
Michael Stryffeler (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) pitched four shutout innings in relief for the decision, striking out three. Ben Szymczak (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) went two-of-five from the plate with two runs scored. Tyler Kmitt (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) hit the game-winning RBI in the fifth.
David Lemasters (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) picked up the win on the mound for the Storm, allowing just two runs in five-plus innings of work. Louie Peterlin (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) went two-of-four with a homerun, a double and three RBI. Lucas Raley (Hinckley, Ohio/Medina Highland) was one-of-two with two walks and two runs scored.
Zak DeCamp (Gahanna, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) went four-of-seven for the day.
The Storm is back in action Sunday (Feb. 20) for games three and four against the Thorobreds.
