Storm Continues GLIAC Slate With Saginaw Valley (Preview)

The Lake Erie College baseball team will continue the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) slate with a weekend series against the Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals on Saturday (April 1) and Sunday (April 2).

Saturday's DH will begin at 1:00 PM and Sunday's DH will begin at 12:00 PM.

Storm Report: The Storm are 6-14 overall and 1-7 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie defeated Findlay in the series opener and then fell in the final three games. Wes Birchmeier (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) leads the team with a .354 batting average, 23 hits, ten doubles and 19 RBI.

Opposition Position: The Cardinals have a 6-14 record and are 0-4 in GLIAC games. Saginaw Valley was swept by Ohio Dominican in the opening series of conference play. Chad Carson leads the Cardinals with a .417 batting average, 15 runs, 30 hits, 11 doubles and 15 RBI.

Series History: Lake Erie and Saginaw Valley State have faced off 22 times in the series history. Lake Erie has won ten of the 22 matchups. The teams split the series in the 2016 season.

Storm Forecast: The Storm will travel to West Virginia to face the University of Charleston in a makeup game on April 5th.
