PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College baseball team will conclude the 2017 season with a split series with the Hillsdale College Chargers on Saturday (May 6) and Sunday (May 7). Saturday's games will be played at Hillsdale, starting at 1:00 PM. The senior athletes of the Storm will be honored prior to Sunday's home doubleheader finale at 1:00 PM.
Storm Report: The Storm is 10-35 overall and 3-25 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie fell to Clarion 12-7 on Wednesday (May 3) in a non-conference matchup. Wes Birchmeier (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) went four-for-five in the game while Rees Rua (Amherst, Ohio / Amherst Steele) had a two-run homerun on the day.
Opposition Position: The Chargers enter the final weekend of the season with a 21-23 overall record. Hillsdale holds a 14-14 record in the GLIAC. The Chargers dropped their last game 9-5 against Concordia (Mich.) last week. Ethan Wiskur leads the team with a .357 batting average.
Series History: The Storm and the Chargers have met 18 times in the series history. Lake Erie holds a 13-5 advantage in the overall series. The Storm swept all four games in the 2015 season in their last meeting.
Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will open the 2018 season as a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).
