Spring Practice Starts Tuesday for Storm Football

PAINESVILLE, OHIO –  Preparation for the 2010 Lake Erie College football season gets underway on Tuesday, March 16, when the Storm opens spring practice.  Coming off a successful second varsity season in which it finished with a 7-4 record, the Storm enters the spring faced with a new set of challenges.

“We've got a lot of work to do to prepare ourselves for competition in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), which is arguably the toughest Division II conference in the country,” said head coach Mark McNellie.  “We had a good year last year, but it is time to put the focus on moving forward and getting ready for 2010 and beyond.”

The Storm lost just three seniors from last year's team and returns its two-deep lineup virtually intact.  Without much turnover, the offensive and defensive units can focus on repetition in the spring as opposed to learning new schemes or inserting new players into different spots – though there will be some position shifts and battles.

All practices will be held at nearby Chardon High School and are open to the media with prior approval from the Lake Erie Sports Information & Marketing Office.  If you wish to attend a practice session, please make arrangements by calling (440) 375-7475 or email jtirotta@lec.edu.

Spring practice wraps up on Saturday, April 17, with the annual Green-White Spring Game at 2 p.m.  More details surrounding that event will follow.
