(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – The Reilly Murphy Era is about to begin for Lake Erie Football as the Storm are just over two months from kicking off the 2019 season. It will be the first year at the helm for Murphy who made his way to northeast Ohio from Fayetteville State in December.
"Our team is looking forward to this season," said Murphy. "The G-MAC is loaded with good teams and good coaches. We will be challenged each week."
Storm fans will be able to witness his debut on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Mercyhurst when the Green and White battles the Lakers under the lights with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The home opener will follow the following week on Saturday, Sept. 14, as Lake Erie hosts Davenport on the new turf at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
The G-MAC slate will begin in Week 3 when Lake Erie heads north for the only time this year to take on the Chargers of Hillsdale on Sept. 21.
The next month will be travel-friendly for the Storm with four of the following five games being played at home with a bye week sandwiched between them. Kentucky Wesleyan and Walsh will visit Painesville before Lake Erie heads to the Mountain State to take on Alderson Broaddus. After the open week, the Storm closes the home campaign with games against Tiffin and Findlay.
The regular season will come to a close with a pair of games on the road. The penultimate game of the season will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Ohio Dominican before the finale at UIndy the following week.
