(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Football Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour has been released and defending champion Hillsdale has been picked to retain its title.
The Chargers went undefeated in 2018 and received six first-place votes and a total of 47 points. Ohio Dominican was chosen second with 40 points, while Findlay was slated third with the remaining two first place votes and 37 points.
Tiffin and Walsh round out the top five with 34 and 25 points respectively. Alderson Broaddus, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Lake Erie fill out the rest of the poll.
The Storm will open their season under the guidance of first year head coach Reilly Murphy at local rival Mercyhurst on Thursday, Sept. 5, with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Murphy joined the program in December and has worked around the clock along with his staff to bring in over 70 new incoming players.
Fans will get their first chance to see the new Storm in action the following week as Lake Erie hosts new Division II member Davenport on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. The conference opener will take place the next week at Hillsdale before the G-MAC home opener against Kentucky Wesleyan at the end of the month.
