PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College Storm men's basketball team will commence the 2016-17 regular season this weekend as they will play in the GLIAC-GLVC Challenge at the University of Indianapolis. The Storm will face Southern Indiana on Saturday (Nov. 12) and Indianapolis on Sunday (Nov. 13).
STORM WARNING: Lake Erie is coming off of a season in 2015 with a 10-18 overall record and 7-15 GLIAC record. Michael Morris is the leading returner on the team this year. Morris averaged 10.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
FIRST GAME AS HEAD COACH: Head coach Kyle Conley is making his head coaching debut after being named Head Coach over the summer. Former coach Cliff Hunt retired after 12 seasons.
SERIES HISTORY: Lake Erie has faced Southern Indiana twice before. In 2009, the Storm fell to the Eagles 105-64 and in 2013, Lake Erie dropped the matchup 90-89 on a buzzer-beater. Indianapolis and Lake Erie have met on the court three times, with the Greyhounds leading 2-1. The Storm fell to the Greyhounds 72-69 last year in the GLIAC-GVAC Challenge at Ashland. In 2009, the teams split the series.
STORM FORECAST: The Storm will host Edinboro next Wednesday (Nov. 16) in the home opener.
