PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's basketball team will be in action Thursday (Dec. 8) against Michigan Tech., and Saturday (Dec. 10) against Northern Michigan. The Storm will host both games and the games are set to tip at 7:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
Storm Report: Lake Erie is led by senior guard Sean Howard (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence North) as he is averaging 14.4 points per game which ranks in the top 20 in the GLIAC for points per game. Head coach Kyle Conley said " Gabe Kynard (Toledo, Ohio / St. John's) and Ennis Thomas (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville South) have been consistent performers game in and game out and are further along in their development than expected at this point in the season". Conley added " this team is learning to compete and work hard every day and continues to improve, we are close to getting over the hump".
Opposition Position: The Huskies come into the game with a 3-4 record overall and are 1-0 in conference play. "Coach Luke is one of the best coaches in our region, which makes the Huskies a tough team to prepare for" said Conley. Michigan Tech is lead by a trio of players, Kyle Monroe, Bryan Heath, and Tommy Lucca. All three average over 17 points per game and Monroe is the reigning GLIAC freshman of the year, and is coming off of a 39 point game against Walsh. The Wildcats are 2-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play. "The Wildcats are led by great guard play behind Naba Echols, and Jordan Perez both of whom can present problems for the Storm" said Conley. The Wildcats do some things defensively that the Storm must prepare for with a short turnaround between games.
Forecast: Lake Erie will open a five game road trip when they travel to take on Lake Superior State Thursday (Dec.15) with the game set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
