(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – An important stretch of the season starts Thursday as Lake Erie hosts No. 8 Findlay in G-MAC action. With the regular season winding down, both teams are battling for playoff positioning. The Storm (14-8, 9-5) are currently fifth in the conference and are fighting for a home playoff game in the G-MAC Tournament, while the Oilers (19-3, 13-2) are fighting for another league title and the right to host throughout.
The first game between the two back in December was a nail-biter. The Oilers won the game 76-74 thanks to a pair of 20-point games from Trey Smith and Anthony Masterlasco. Harrison Riggs had one of the best games of his career that day as he led the Green and White with 19 points. He finished 7-of-13 overall and 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
Both teams are coming off of wins with the Storm most recently defeating Ohio Valley. Against the Fighting Scots, Lake Erie shot 52.9 percent from the field for a new season-best. The Oilers most recently won at Hillsdale for their fifth-straight victory, a streak that started after losing to Hillsdale in the first meeting.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. following the women's contest.
