(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its postseason honors and Gabe Kynard and Erron James have been named to the All-Conference Team. Kynard was place on the First Team while James was selected to the All-Defense Team. Both are firsts for the Storm program in the Division II era.
Kynard adds this to his list of achievements this season after he was named a G-MAC Athlete of the Week and a CoSIDA Academic All-Region selection this season. He led the team and was fourth in the G-MAC in scoring with 18.2 points per game while taking the Storm to their second consecutive postseason appearance after setting program records for overall wins and conference wins in Lake Erie's Division II era. He scored in double-figures in all but two games this season, and scored a career-high 30 points against Notre Dame on the same day he passed 1,000 points for his career.
Kynard was strong defensively as well as he ranked ninth in the G-MAC with 1.4 steals per game and 17th with 5.3 rebounds per game. Overall he was third in the conference in minutes played with 33.9 per game.
James was placed on the All-Defensive Team after an incredible season that saw him average 1.8 steals per game. The mark was the third-best in the conference and he was one of only three players to reach 50 steals this season. He pulled down 4.6 rebounds per game as well.
Both Kynard and James started in all 29 games this season.
