PAINESVILLE, OHIO - The Lake Erie College men's golf team opened its fall season with an 11th place finish at the Burger King/Ohio Valley Invitational at Marietta Country Club in Marietta, Ohio. The Storm carded a team total of 315 in Tuesday's (Sept. 1) second round.
Lake Erie posted a two-day total of 639, just two shots behind Bluefield State College and seven ahead of West Virginia State. Indiana University of Pennsylvania and host Ohio Valley University shared the team title with a score of 597.
Individually for Lake Erie, juniors C.J. Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) and Mike Meyers (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) tied for 38th place at 159 (+19) while sophomore Frank Whites (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) was just one stroke behind at 160 (+20). Senior Steve Bragg (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) rounded out the team scoring at 170 (+30).
Clarion University's Jared Schmader was the individual medalist, carding a 141 (+1) for the tournament.
The Storm is next in action Sept. 11-12 at the Auld Crafter's Kisor Classic in Delaware, Ohio.
