Storm Finishes Second by a Stroke at Mt. Union Invitational


PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Sparked by freshman Mike Guarino's (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) second-round 72 on Monday (Sept. 28), the Lake Erie College men's golf team put for golfer's in the top 10 en route to a second-place  finish at the Mount Union College Fall Invitational at the Alliance Country Club in Alliance, Ohio.

Guarino finished tied for third at 75-72-147 (+3) in his best performance to date. As a team, the Storm totaled a 598, just one stroke behind team champion John Carroll University. Lake Erie's second-round 296 was the lowest team score on the day.

Junior Mike Meyers (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) tied for sixth at 74-75-149 (+5) while sophomore Frank Whites (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) and junior C.J. Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) were part of a four-way tie for ninth at 151. 

John Carroll's Blake Furgerson was the individual medalist after shooting 71-68-139 (-5).

The Storm returns to the links on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California University (Pa.).
