Storm 7th After First Round of Malone Spring Classic

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Freshman Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was the only member of the Lake Erie College men's golf team to break 80, shooting a 79 on the first day of the Malone University Spring Classic on Friday (April 16) at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance, Ohio.


Guarino's 79 has him tied for 26th place at the opening round.  Sophomore Frank Whites (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) is one stroke behind at 80 (t-29th).  Junior C.J. Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) and freshman Troy Hunter (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) are tied for 40th with 82.  Senior Steve Bragg (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) rounded out the first-day scoring for the Storm with an 87.


As a team, LEC carded a 323, one shot behind Notre Dame College.  Davenport University leads the team standings with 296, one stroke ahead of host Malone.


The second and final round will be held Saturday, April 17.
