PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Wrapping up a busy weekend for the Lake Erie College men's golf team, freshman Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) fired rounds of 77 and 76 to tie for 16th place at the Kyle Ryman Memorial Golf Tournament at Tiffin University Sunday and Monday (April 18-19).
As a team, the Storm placed 11th of 14 teams with a score 318-327=645. Lake Erie placed sixth at the Malone University Spring Classic in Alliance, Ohio earlier in the weekend (Friday and Saturday, April 16-17).
Guarino's two round total of 153 tied him with three others in 16th place. Junior C.J. Milo (Painesvile, Ohio/Mentor) shot 81-79-160 to tie for 40th place. Senior Steve Bragg (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) was next at 84-84=168 (59th).
Rounding out the scoring for LEC were sophomore Frank Whites (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) in 60th place at 76-95=171 and freshman Jordan Frank (Fremont, Ohio/St. Joseph's) at 87-88=175 (63rd).
Host Tiffin claimed the team title with a score of 596, five shots ahead of Wayne State University. Wayne State's Aaron Peterson won the individual medal, besting Owens Community College's Torrey Brummett in a nine-hold sudden death playoff.
The Ryman Memorial was the final event of the 2009-10 season for the Storm.
