PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College men's golf team wrapped up its first appearance in the Great Lakes Athletic Conference Championships Monday (Oct. 4) with an 11th place team finish at Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club in Michigan.
The Storm improved by eight strokes as a team in the third and final round following a second-round 330. Lake Erie finished 11 strokes behind 10th-place Lake Superior State University. Ferris State University, behind individual medalist Kyle Wittenbach, won the team title in a playoff over host Wayne State University.
Individually for the Storm, senior C.J, Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) tied for 33rd indiviudally at 78-78-79=235 (+22) and was the low scorer for LEC. Sophomore Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) bounced back from a disasterous second round to finish tied for 42nd at 78-85-77=240 (+27) while junior Matt Hennessey (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon placed 50th at 77-87-80=244 (+31). His first-round 77 was the lowest round carded by a Lake Erie golfer at the event.
The Storm returns to the course this weekend at the Tiffin University Kyle Ryman Memorial, Oct. 9-10.
