Milo Tied for 4th, Just Three Shots Off Lead at LEC Spring Invite

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Thirteen teams battled the elements Saturday (April 16) at a soggy Madison Country Club for the first round of the Lake Erie College Spring Invitational. After 18 holes of play, the host Lake Erie College men's golf team is in ninth place. The University of Findlay has the team lead after round one.

The Storm carded a team scored of 319, just one shot behind Point Park University and only five strokes out of the top five.  Findlay's 303 after day one was two shots ahead of another Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school, Wayne State University.

Individually for Lake Erie, senior C.J. Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) is in a four-way tie for fourth place after an opening round three-over 74 which included a 36 on the back nine.  That puts him only two shots in back of leader Matt Jones of Findlay who is at one-over 72.

Sophomore Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) is at plus-7 78, tied for 17th place in the field of 78. Junior Frank Whites III (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) carded an 83 and sophomore Troy Hunter (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) shot 84 to round out the Storm's contingent.

The second and final round will be held Sunday, April 17, at Madison.
