Guarino 6th, Milo 15th at GLIAC Men's Golf Preview

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Despite two strong individual performances, the Lake Erie College men's golf team placed 10th at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship Preview Invitational Saturday (April 23) at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich.

The 10-team invitational was hosted by Ferris State on the par 72 course measuring 7,117 yards. 

In the team's final event of the spring, sophomore Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was solid, shooting a four-over 76 to tie for sixth place with three others.  Senior C.J. Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) was three strokes behind in a six-way tie for 15th place at 79 (+7).

Lake Erie totaled a team score of 330, three strokes behind Northern Michigan University. Grand Valley State University took the team title at 306.

Junior Frank Whites III (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) tied for 38th at 83 (+11), freshman Tyler Walters (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) was 59th at 89 (+17) and sophomore Troy Hunter (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) was 63rd with a 96 (+24) to round out the Storm contingent.

Grand valley's Nick Gunthorpe was the individual medalist after finishing as the olnly golfer under par. He shot a 3-under 69 to win by five strokes.
