Storm Men Unable to Improve Standing at GLIAC Fall Event

SOUTH HAVEN, MICH. – The Lake Erie College men's golf team was unable to make up any ground in the second round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Fall Event at Hawkshead Golf Course, posting a team total of 336 in the second round Monday (Sept. 24) for a 16th-place overall finish.

Wayne State University won the team title with a total score of 594, five shots ahead of Saginaw Valley State University.  Lake Erie's team score of 649 was five strokes off Lake Superior State University.

Bryan Ratterman of Bellarmine University was the individual medalist, with a score of 72-72-144 (E) on the Par-72, 7,033-yard course.

Lake Erie had just one golfer finish in the top 60.  Junior Tyler Walters (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) scored 79-80-159 (+15) to tie for 59th place.  Senior Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor), who was tied for 15th after an opening round 74, struggled Monday to an 86 to finish in a tie for 64th place at 160.

Rounding out the Storm scoring were freshmen Bart Wyss (Salem, Ohio/Salem) at 162 (T-70th), Jimmy Wild (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Trinity) at 168 (T-81st) and Nick Bubon (Howland, Ohio/Howland) at 182 (T-86th).

 The Storm next week is at the NCAA Fall Regional in Kansasville, Wisc. Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
