TIFFIN, Ohio—The Lake Erie College men's golf team opened their 2014 season at the Kyle Rymann Memorial Shootout hosted by Tiffin University at Mohawk Country Club this past weekend (Sept. 6-7)
Sophomore Ian Hardesty (Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) had the top finish for the Storm, placing second overall in the six team event.
In the opening round Saturday, Hardesty ended the day in second after shooting a 67- five shots under par. On Sunday, Hardesty hit a 72 to maintain his position.
Brett Green of Tiffin edged Hardesty by just one stroke to take home the individual title.
Jimmy Wild (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Trinity) finished the event in a tie for 30th with an overall score of 158, one shot ahead of teammate Nick Bubon (Warren, Ohio/Howland) who shot a 159 to finish in a tie for 33rd.
Overall, the Storm placed fifth as a team.
The Storm is back in action next weekend (Sept. 12-13) at the Malone University Invitational held at Tannenhauf Country Club in Alliance, Ohio.
