PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team is set to open the 2017 campaign. Head Coach Steve Gartelman said "We expect to have a good year, the team has bought into what we are trying to accomplish and we expect big things this season".
The Storm is coming off of a 9-6 overall record and a 6-2 record in the conference last season. Lake Erie is ranked 12th in the nation by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) preseason poll. Men's lacrosse will be the first of the Storm sports to transition into the G-MAC and have been tabbed to finish third behind Mercyhurst and Seton Hill.
This upcoming season the Storm has a demanding schedule as they play seven teams ranked in the USILA preseason poll. Five of the seven teams they play are ranked in the top ten, and they play second ranked Limestone on the road during the nonconference portion of their schedule.
Coach Gartelman said "we expect to be a top seed in the conference tournament, and to compete in the NCAA tournament. We want to finish as a top five team this season".
