PAINEVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team will be in action Thursday (May 4) when they square off with Seton Hill in the G-MAC Semifinals, with the game set to start at 4 p.m. The G-MAC playoffs will be hosted by Mercyhurst.
Storm Report: The Storm ended the season ranked 19th and had a 7-7 record overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Storm is coming off a loss to eighth ranked Mercyhurst. Earlier this season the Storm was victorious over Seton Hill, 10-9. Head Coach Steve Gartelman added "Our regular season win gives our team confidence that we can compete that well against a great team. Our young squad has done well battling but I think it's good we have some confidence going into the tournament".
Opposition Position: The Griffins are ranked 11th in the nation and finished the regular season with a 10-4 overall record and went 4-2 in conference play. The Griffins ended the year on a five game winning streak, and enter the Semifinal match coming off a win over Wheeling Jesuit.
Coach Gartelman added "We will need to dominate GB's at the face off and in the 50/50 loose balls. We will also need to be extremely efficient with the ball, not turning it over in the clearing game or on the offensive side".
Forecast: The winner of this match will advance to the G-MAC Championship where they will play the winner of Mercyhurst and Walsh. The championship game will be Saturday (May 6) at 1 p.m.
