GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team had 12 student-athletes named to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference All-Conference teams. The awards were handed out on the campus of Seton Hill University.
The Storm had three First Team All-Conference selections in Brandon Donohue (South Buffalo, N.Y. / Bishop Timon St. Jude), Reed Hnidy (Saskatoon, Sask. / Genesee CC), and Lucas Shafer (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg). Donohue started 10 games and appeared in 13 games. The midfielder picked up 32 groundballs, caused 21 turnovers, and recorded 10 points on the season. Hnidy appeared and started in 13 games for the Storm. The defenseman led the conference in caused turnovers per game (3.0), as he had 36 caused turnovers on the season. Hnidy was second on the Storm in groundballs with 57, and also added a pair of goals, and an assist to his tally. Shafer appeared and started in 13 games for Lake Erie. He was first in the conference in goals per game (3.92) and points per game (5.58), as he scored 49 goals, and had 20 assists on the season.
Lake Erie added six selections to the GMAC All-Conference Second Team in Tim Bay (Canadaigua, N.Y. / Canadaigua Academy), Austin Bishop (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg), Tyler Manning (Hamburg, N.Y. / Bishop Timon St. Jude), Edmond Renaud (Carlisle, Ont. / Waterdown District / Pfeiffer), Conor Sharkey (Cambridge, Ont. / Jacob Hespeler / Pfieffer), and Bret Swan (Acton City, Ont. / Halton Hills). T. Bay appeared in 14 games, making four starts for the Storm. The midfielder scored 18 times, and had 12 assists for a total of 30 points on the season. Bishop played in all 14 games and made 12 starts. The attacker was third on the Storm in goals with 23 and added 12 assists for a total of 35 points on the year. Manning played in 14 games making 13 starts. The defenseman was fourth on the team in caused turnovers with 13, and picked up 33 groundballs. Renaud is third in the conference in goals and points per game as he had 3.08 and 4.54 respectively. Renaud scored 41 goals on the year and tallied 61 points for the Storm. Sharkey started all 14 games in goal for Lake Erie. He made 95 saves this season, and had a save percentage of 51.1 percent. Swan appeared in 14 games for the Storm. Swan won a total of 156 face-offs on the season, and won the faceoff 62 percent of the time. Swan also picked up a team leading 74 groundballs.
The Storm rounded out the All-Conference selections with Patrick Bay (Canadaigua, N.Y. / Canadaigua Academy), Alexander Corbett (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Bishop Timon), and Liam Smith (Webster, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) all being named GMAC Honorable Mention. P. Bay appeared in all 14 games for the Storm and made one start. He scored seven goals, and had 10 assists on the season for a total of 17 points. Corbett appeared in all 14 games making 1 start for the Storm. He picked up 56 groundballs, and caused 11 turnovers on the season. Smith started all 14 games for the Storm this season. He caused 17 turnovers, and picked up 21 groundballs.
